The Dark Gate is a Neo-classical vaulted tunnel, about 90 metres long, under the artificial slopes of Castle Hill beside Saint Adalbert's Basilica in Esztergom. Archbishop Alexander Rudnay began building it in 1824 to link the canons' houses with the seminary, and it also leads into the town centre.
